Prologue: Uprising challenge

For months, Eric had been on quite the losing streak but of course he still considered himself a winner. Eric knew what a lot of people didn’t. He knew that he had unlocked and unmatched potential. Like anyone, he would do pretty much anything just to prove how good he was. He needed to win at any cost. He prided himself on being a winner. It didn’t take a brain surgeon to figure that much out. At the pay per view, called Ascension, Eric Steel was set to face a man who recently became Uprising champion, Jacob Figgins. The real question on pretty much everyone’s mind… Can Eric Steel accomplish what he should’ve accomplished ages ago? Can he really become the Uprising champion for the first time in his career? Well, Jacob had been on a roll as of late and he had proven that he was a fighting champion. So it was a known fact that Jacob wanted to retain his title. Eric obviously had wanted to be the Uprising champion for quite some time. He would finally get a one on one championship match which was what he wanted all along. Could he become victorious for the first time in a long while? Can he capture the title that he so desperately craved? Jacob Figgins should be able to know that Eric Steel was not one to mess with. Tune in at the pay per view Sunday Night to see if Eric can obtain the title.

Scene 001: Stating Facts

Week after week I’ve been losing but yet and still, I know my hidden potential. The time for me to seize my opportunity. You see, I’m not a loser but you fans who’s reading this probably think I am. But tell me something… When is the last time I actually gave a flying fuck what you people think? I think you people are simply delusional, clearly. You see, I know for a fact that when any of you people see an opportunity in front of you, you run from it. But no, not me, the difference between all of you and me is that I embrace opportunities. Allow me to explain a couple of things to you, even though you don’t exactly deserve it. Last pay per view I was expected to wrestle in a Steel Cage scramble match, the same match Jacob Figgins won the title in… I walked out because that type of match is simply below me. I was bigger and better than that particular match. Matt Stone walked out as well but not for the same reasons that I did. You see, he was scared because that type of match was too much for him. I know this for a fact and obviously I’m not just all talk. Tonight, you people will see something you’ve never witnessed before. Trust me… you’ll have your eyes popping out with amazement because of my talent.

You Americans are all the same. It’s pathetic really. I mean you disrespect people who is simply God’s gift to wrestling. There’s no one as talented as me. Tonight, I will show all of you a thing or two. You will bow down to me like the peasants you are. Not only that but you will bow down to the group known as The Empire. We’re still standing tall even without that asshole, Corey Casey who simply disrespected his youngest and most accessible talent to date. What I mean by that is, I’m the reason why people pay good money to see The Empire. They don’t pay to see Alexander Remington, or Griffin Hawkins. They pay to see me do what I do best. You Americans don’t know it but you know it’s true. I’m sure not everyone who lives in Houston are this stupid, come on. Let’s be really realistic now. You people are more focused on the wrestlers that are pansies more so than people like me. It’s pathetic. Face it, every single member of Empire will be a champion before the night is over. Philip Joseph will be our new world champion. I know it, and Griffin knows it. Griffin is not a fit champion. He may have beaten me recently but on any other given night I would’ve beat the shit out of him, no lie. Soon enough, like the idiots I named… you’ll be just be eating at the palm of my hands.

Canadians are great athletes and we’re so much better than all of you. We’re better than your Texans, your Rockets… Hell, even your precious Astros. I’m the greatest Canadian in this company at the moment. We’ve had a spur of Canadians since I’ve arrived I know but I’m the only one that matters. I’m also the one who will beat the living hell out of any single person that comes in my way. Face it you morons, all of you will realize how great I am. This city is a dump… I mean it just reeks with you morons and your stupidity. I mean if I had to stay in this city for one more week, I would die. Truthfully, you people need a reality check. You people will worship me and you people will respect me. I deserve some respect. You think that people like Ethan Cage, Steel Angel, Griffin Hawkins or Alexander Remington give two shits about you people who would be reading this? You people need to learn some respect for real talent. You’ll be looking at the most talented son of a bitch in this company soon enough. I’m going to be world champion one day. I know it and you people will know it too. Trust mne, you morons will witness the greatest world champion in this company. In fact, I’m already number one contender for a championship. Be prepared to witness greatness unfold.

Tonight, I’m facing the current champion, Jacob Figgins one on one. Now, I don’t normally do this but I’m actually impressed with this kid. He’s been on quite the roll as of late. He has an opportunity to defend his championship against me. Let’s be perfectly honest… The truth is, he doesn’t stand a chance. I mean he may have been on a roll but he’s a champion. I’m determined to win and I’m hungry to have gold on my waist for the first time. I guarantee that I’d be a better champion than him. I mean we don’t need a moron representing his company in all of honesty. Tonight, that title will be on my waist. I plan on taking out the trash that is Jacob Figgins. I will beat him with in an inch of his pathetic life. He’s going to wish he was never put in the ring with me. Let’s face facts… Jacob’s luck has run out. His hot streak ends when The Lone Soldier puts him in his place. It ends when I beat him severely and endlessly. Trust me on this, he’ll wish he never messed with me or the Empire. Jacob will see me shine. I do my best work when the championship is on the line. I hope Jacob will bring that talent that people rave so much about. The way I see it… He’ll need every single ounce of it if he even stands a chance of beating me…

Jacob, you and I will face each other one on one. And you know what, I’m glad I finally get an opportunity to face a so called fighting champion. I hope it was as easy for you to win it as it will be for you to lose it Fakob. Here’s the thing… When I defeat you, I don’t want you to look for any type of excuse. I don’t have to cheat to beat you, and I don’t have to play fair to beat you either. As far as I’m concerned I can pretty much beat you in any way I could possibly think of. You may be on a streak but you’ve never faced anybody like me one on one. In the ring I will completely own you. I’m going to take that title from you. There won’t be anything you can do because I’ll beat you. It will be me holding the title above my head in victory. You’ll take it and like it because I’m the champion IWF needs. You’re nothing but a cheap piece of shit champion. If you don’t believe me, tonight I’ll prove it. I’m great at everything that I do. Tonight you will get a big taste of what I am truly made of. I’m going to do everything in my power to dethrone you as the Uprising champion. That title will be around my waist. At the end of the match, I would have made you my personal bitch.

PostSubject: Re: Jacob Figgins [vs.] Eric Steel   Jacob Figgins [vs.] Eric Steel I_icon_minitimeSun Mar 24, 2013 3:55 pm

Open the scene to show our Uprising Champion standing outside with the arena for Ascension in the backdrop. He is dressed in his usual civilian attire, a pair of tattered jeans, a black t-shirt with the words 'Solitude Aeturnus' printed across. A heavy brown leather jacket resting along his frame along with the Uprising Championship upon his left shoulder. Jacob begins a slow golf clap, a mischievious smirk upon his features.

“Well Damien Drake, you made sure that the match was to the point. You made sure that there was'nt any needless suspense. You made sure there was a clear and dominant winner. He made sure he didn't fail at disappointing. Philip the fearless leader helped his friend Damien blow off steam and shared a nice chickenwing with Tim. Then he valiantly tapped out. Surely, he was conserving his energy for a good main event. Eric Steel made sure that our newest roster member, Corey Bull had a nice warm welcome. It was rather gracious of you to let him get a feel for the ropes in the middle of your own match even. Once again the Empire is showing themsleves to be upstanding gents of IWF.”

A pause for when our champion bursts into a hearty guffaw. Clutching his sides as the guffaw seems to build. He raised his right hand motioning for the viewers to give a moment to compose himself. Once he got all the laughs out, he continued.

“Ok, ok, I guess it IS impossible to compliement the Empire without going into fits of laughter. What is more of a laughable effort? Trying to gather enough evidence that proves that any of these members on an individual basis are a threat. What's more laughable than that? Watching each member puff out their chest and try to sell themselves as a threat. Listening to their meaningless attempts at diatribe as their interests continue to wane. They contradict themselves at every turn, both inside and outside the ring. And yet, week after week, they throw up their idiocy on the video wire. On the Twitter feeds, how we are the fools for doubting them. But like most humans with deep seated insecurites. The doubt lies within themselves. Over the years that doubt bubbles inside their stomach, they look in the mirror and get a taste of bile in the backs of their throats. Soon that doubt just radiates from their very being, until they become walking, talking avatars for self loathing. They surround themselves with bubbles of delusion, hoping that they will take the brunt for their delicate egos. They lash out onto the common man, blaming them and their society for their woes. Dodgey pedistals, they stand upon to try and be the ones high above. Because at eye level their flaws are more visible. This is the opponent that I shall face this sunday.”

“Eric, I would open with saying that I do not wish to bore you with history lessons, and the origins of things. But that would implay that I think your opinion matters. While I may not be a perfect man, I do so hate to lead people on when it is not needed. But the name Figgins, it derives from the name O'Foadigan. It was the irish gaelic word for peasant, for laborer. Ever sense the inception of the feudal system of government, this word has been derogetory. But there are the few that know what true power that us peasants hold. We worked the land in and created farms to keep the people of the empire fed. We hunted in the forests to gather meat and furs to feed and cloth. And in the most extreme situations, we were desperately thrown into the front lines to defend our homes. All so some pompus ass can sit upon his throne and bandy about some illusion of power. But what happens when a peasant has survived many battles that he surely should have fallen in? What happens when the peasant tires of paying taxes for something he toiled for years for? We soon find a peasant ready for revolt, ready to abolish the established hiearchy. Ready to overcome the soft handed individuals who placed themselves upon the mantle by nothing more than name. The Uprising title, it is more than a piece of gold and leather. It is a mentallity. I've toiled throughout the indys. Only on very few occasions having the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of my labor, and I will continue to do so. If I have to abolish the rules made in stone, so be it”

“So one can imagine how offended I must feel when my present opponent tries to justify his current lack of impressiveness. After much gilding of the lily, wadeing through insignificant comparisons of nationality. He pretty much flat out says, that every other match was not important to him. He tries to justify outright lazyness. While at the same moment complaining of those who have had things handed to them. I'm going to ask you outright, Eric. What the fuck are you doing here? This business isn't designed to reward people for the least amount of effort. And when groups form to try and encourage their lazyness, it makes my blood boil. Once more, I implore. What THE FUCK are you doing here?”

Jacob's face warps into a scowl as he furrows his brows, his green eyes glittering intensly as he stares into the camera. His jaw tensed to show his vexation at he idea.

“Let me tell you something about Matt Stone, since you are so quick to cast stones at someone not around to defend himself. He's a douchebag, he has scraped his way through other companies using every underhanded way possible to obtain wins. The man has snapped ankles of his opponents just to make sure he obtained a win. I've known the guy for years, but even he has proven himself to be a harder worker than you. I mean I guess you said what you said because you are uninformed. But why he walked out of the scramble match, is because only a few weeks before he walked out victorious in a six man match known as the Dome of Destruction. He gained the world title in that company. And has put it on the line every week he could since. As I have pointed out at Nowhere to Run he cares nothing for the prize that rests on my shoulder. He stated more than once that it is a third tier title and it is not worth his time. And your reasoning was 'you are above this match'? Why didn't you prove it? If I thought myself to be above a certain match you know what I'd do? I'd go into the match, and kick ass. I will show the management this match is below me though my skill alone. That's what I did at Nowhere to Run. Every single elimination was done by my hand, and in a fashion to where there was no room for doubt. I dropped Farmer Dick on his head, I leveled Jaxx with my forearm. And I pulled Johnny Cage into the center of the ring and made him tap out. I don't care that you walked out of the match. But it offends me to no end that you have the gall to say you desire what sits on my shoulder. That you have persued it for months. I desired this title as well, and guess what. I went out there, said fuck the odds, and fought, and guess what I WON THE FUCKING THING.”

Jacob points to the title before resting his palm upon the center plate. Gving it a light rap each syllable of the last phrase to add emphasis to his point.

“But I still don't understand why you decided not to compete in the scramble match. Because that is what you are doing now. You are scrambling. Running through stock fear tactics, hoping that somehow, someway, you can implant a small kernal of doubt and it will grow. All your name calling to try and get me in a tiff, hoping I'd slip up. But all you are doing is making yourself appear desperate, because you ARE desperate, aren't you? You know that you lucked out getting this match, it is your last chance. And you know it. You know that you can't screw up in this match. And you know that now you are dealing with an opponent that doesn't play into your bullshit. And your shoddy pedistal is crumbling . But we all know the outcome already. You don't have to wait till the final bell to know what words will be said. Here is your winner AND STILL Uprising Champion, Jacob Figgins”

Jacob takes the title in both hands and raises it high above his head. His green eyes piercung into the camera once more, daring anyone to try and dethrone him. He places the Uprising Championship back upon his shoulder while pulling out his sunglasses and slipping them on.

“The empire is fading, the peasants are taking over.”
