Parker's House
Pay Per View Debut
Parker's Address

Parker is in his study, standing in front of the camera that is always positioned just in front of the door. Today he is leaning against the front of the desk, with a towel draped over his shoulders. Sweat is still beading on his head, and there are streaks on his face from where former beads had fallen victim to gravity. Parker is in his ring gear, or maybe his training gear, they look enough a like to confuse the two. He seems to have come straight to this camera after finishing his workout from the day. There is even a smile on his face, from the endorphins released during his training. He wipes at his head with the towel, and then starts to talk.

-Parker-
It was a year ago, at this very event, that I made my pay per view debut. Tayshaun Davis and somebody else that you have never heard of stood across from me. You can guess what happened to those two. I am here and who are they? You don't know. I have done it all, and they haven't left enough trace of themselves to be a shit stain on the old IWF mattress. Last year I opened this pay per view in a big way. This year, I am happy to report that I have moved up in the world. Maybe not as far up as I could have dreamed of. Back then I was a kid riding the biggest wave of my career. Listen to me now, talking like it was decades ago. I was running up a mountain without any kind of push back. No resistance. I just kept pushing faster and faster, and one year ago, this was the first step. My first step. Parker Wayde's instant impact in IWF. One year later, Parker Wayde, "The Impact Player" has taken one step up the card. One small step up the mountain. I didn't pay my dues last time around, and one step up the card is all I have to show for all of my talk, and all of my accomplishments.

He lets his eyes wander upwards towards the four title belts that hang from the chandelier, but he doesn't dare turn away from the camera. Parker wished to direct the viewers to the championships, not himself. That would have taken the smile right off of his face. He takes the towel off off of his shoulders and wipes his face before throwing it down on the desk. Parker unstraps his right glove and slips it off. He starts to talk as he unwraps the tape from his hand.

-Parker-
I came into this company 53 pounds lighter than I am right now, and with a stupid afro that I can't stomach to see in the pictures of my first matches here. I look back and see myself as a joke. I have chosen the path that I am currently on so that I can put that picture of myself behind me. I was a child that was new to this industry, and now I have been hardened by it. I came in wanting to impress people, and now the only person that I wish to impress is myself. I can't tell you how many times I have been asked why I am trying so hard to build myself up from the ground, or what I am trying to prove. I don't think, even for a second, that I owe anyone any more explanation than I have already given, but I guess that is the point of all of this time I spend in front of a camera talking to a group of people that aren't actually here.

The end of the tape comes off the back of his hand, and he drops the roll that he has collected into the waste basket. He unstraps the other glove, slides it off his hand in the same fashion, and starts to unroll the tape on it. It seems like the conversation is a distant second on his attention.

-Parker-
When people talk about how I rose through the company, I don't want them to see a kid that didn't meet any kind of resistance. I want them to see a guy that walked through everyone, from the bottom, all the way to the top. Every person on this roster is going to be made to take note of me.

Alexander Raven.
Storming Raven.
Megan Andrews.
Tiffani Michaels.
Anthony Dawkins.
Skyla Vaughn.

What do these names have in common? They are the start of what is going to be a very long list of victims. The start of a list of 'bad guys' that were taken, wadded up, and thrown into the waste can that sits next to my desk. A few weeks ago I compared Storming Raven, Steve, as I call him, to a scrap that I picked up off my floor, and I have since proven that he, along with every other person on that list was exactly that. After six months of losing, I decided that I was done trying to cash in on my previous accomplishments. I promised myself that I was done riding on my own coat tails. Why should I get a free pass to the main event because I held the IWF Championship for a month? If I wanted to do that, I would change my name to Jason Gabriel and throw myself into a top tier match without first proving that I could best all of the guys on the card beneath me. This is a new IWF. The roster looks very different than the one I ran through last year. In fact, I look around and I don't really see any faces that were here both then and now. Guys like "The Great Black Shark" and "The Black Dragon" think that since they were on top once, they shouldn't come back to the bottom. Since they proved that they can run with the best, that they don't have to earn their way back to being "the" guy. Jason says that he is going to have to start from zero, but I look at him, and the position he is in, and I realize just how empty those words actually are. I watched my plummet from the top of the mountain, and I could never bring myself to have someone like Griffin Hawkins help me back up to half mast. Then again, I am not going to make the mistake of being Alexander Remington, by trying to build up from the bottom, only to become a punchline.

Parker finds the end of the tape, and discards that roll into the garbage as well. He holds out his hands and tightens them into a fist so hard that a chorus of crackles comes from them. His face shows just how relieved he is to have his hands free. He allows himself to sit back onto the desk, letting his feet hover just above the floor by doing so. His shoulders drop, and he suddenly looks exhausted.

-Parker-
My road back is going to be much longer than the road I took the first time. This is still going to be a direct approach to the top, but I am not taking the shortest, or the fastest route. Parker Wayde is not going to handshake his way into matches with the big dogs. He isn't going to goad people into fights on twitter. My name is established. People know it. Some people even fear it. I am going to use my name, and my name alone, to knock off every single person on this roster. i think that I have made a damn fine start. I have laid waste to people behind me, and I have shaken off the dead weight weighing me down. The only person that I have watching my back is the one person that has the set of balls to put a knife in it, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. I have to keep my head on a swivel, even when it comes to eVolved. JHalc told me that he is going to choose to play in the minor leagues for a while, which takes him off my list and out of my way. That is the only place that I can find an ally anyways. In my humble opinion, if you make yourself an obstacle, I am going to turn you into a speed bump, not a hurdle.

Parker laughs at his own joke, all while looking down at the floor. He bends and cracks his neck now, just trying to unwind. He has the words, but is slowly starting to lose the energy to actually speak them. When he started, his mood could not have been better. He wanted to switch on the camera, and he had the focus to cut through all the bullshit that people always try and throw out. Something just suddenly felt like a weight on his chest. The air was starting to feel more dense. Parker looked around at the bookshelves and at once became painfully aware of all tiny this room actually was. Something was happening, and he could feel it.

-Parker-
I guess my point is, I have made a list. I have called out the champions, simply to put them on notice that I am coming for them, not their....

What was it? Something wasn't right but he couldn't put his finger on it. He looks back at the camera, and at once becomes confused.

-Parker-
What was I saying?

The look on his face was genuine. This wasn't a script. He just kept looking around for something that wasn't there. His shoulders rolled themselves, seemingly on their own, and demonstrated his discomfort.

-Parker-
... their titles... I am not coming for their titles... I am coming for them.

He keeps looking around, absent mindedly talking. The door bursts open behind the camera, and startles Parker. He jumps out of his skin, and is standing before he even realizes that he has moved. A chuckle can be heard from behind the camera. Parker only seems more confused. The camera is hoisted up into the air, and the viewers get slightly motion sick as it is flipped vertically until the interrupter is upside down in the frame.

-JHalc-
Parker has to go now. See ya

The camera turns off. The show was over.

Parker Wayde [vs] Frank Finelli Empty
PostSubject: Re: Parker Wayde [vs] Frank Finelli   Parker Wayde [vs] Frank Finelli I_icon_minitimeTue Jul 30, 2013 2:56 am

The night of the show
Parker's hotel
Why?

The scene opens with Parker Wayde sitting on the edge of his hotel room bed, head in his hands. From his breathing he appears tired, almost as if he is about to nod off to sleep, it had been days since he got a decent rest but something is keeping him. The show seemed far enough off to get some sleep. He knew it wasn't worth the effort though. The lamp to his immediate right, above the side table is the only source of light in the room. Parker sits up, and starts to lift his left leg onto the bed when the phone rings. He turns back towards the table, and listens to it ring a second, was this the call finally giving him the bad news? He sees the one number that he doesn't want to see. Jay is calling. Parker feels his stomach turn, and his hand waivers above the phone, not wanting to hear what he knows Jay is going to say. Why did he ever agree to keep on with this show. He should be back home. Parker should be doing something so much more important than his career in IWF. He finally finds the strength to pick up the phone, trying to push the fear from his voice as he lifts it to his ear.

-Parker-
Is something up?

He thought that he came off smooth enough.

-JHalc-
You were really sweating there weren't you? I could almost feel it through the phone.

-Parker-
Please tell me that isn't the only reason you are calling.

The laugh through the phone drives Parker insane. He is unable to defend himself from getting toyed with. Jay is his one lifeline to the real world, and that is never a good thing.

-JHalc-
Do you really want to hear bad news? Wouldn't it be so much easier for you if I was just calling to make you paranoid? You know, you should really have left someone else to stay here. You know, someone with respect for the human life and all that jazz.

-Parker-
Dammit do you have a reason for calling, or do you just want to piss me off?

The laughing stops.

-JHalc-
Sounds like I have a sick old man to smother with a pillow. I'll be back in a second..

-Parker-
Stop fucking with me.

Parker smacks himself in the head with the phone. It is just what Jay wanted to hear out of him. Parker wished he had someone else that he trusted to stay behind. At that moment, realizing that he was insane enough to trust Jay, he only felt more sick.

-JHalc-
Don't worry. Nothing here has changed. Dear old dad is still just chilling in his peaceful slumber. Nobody really has any idea what made the old man just shut down. It's like his whole body just... hiccuped.

-Parker-
I swear. Next time you call me to tell me something I already know, I will make sure you don't come back to life this time.

Parker shakes his head again. Jay knew what strings to pull and Parker was just helping him get off. It was almost enough to make him consider making new friends.

-JHalc-
How goes things in IWF? You know, the place you ran off to instead of taking care of your only remaining relative? Do you feel good about turning your back on the man that raised you, by himself nonetheless? All for what? Frank Finelli? What a joke. You could have beaten him from this hospital room.

-Parker-
You really are enjoying this aren't you?

He already knew the answer. Hearing it wasn't going to make him feel any better about it either.

-JHalc-
Yes.....?

-Parker-
That sounded like a question, and not a statement

-JHalc-
To tell you the truth, I haven't yet made up my mind on the subject. I dare say I might even feel the least bit sorry for you. This is no joking matter.

-Parker-
That almost sounded genuine.

-JHalc-
Too over the top? It was the last bit that made it too much, wasn't it? I need to learn a little restraint.

-Parker-
I'll be back as soon as this match is over. I am not staying for the rest of the show. Joke while you can, but if anything happens to him, you better not fuck around with me.

He waited for a response. The stoppage in conversation dragged on long enough to make it feel awkward. Parker goes to open his mouth, but is cut off by a response.

-JHalc-
Do try to lighten up....

[i]The phone screen brightened. Parker heard the line go dead. He dropped it to the bed, furious with himself, but with a way to direct that anger. In a few hours, he would be on his way back home. Only a few more hours....
