| Hop, Skip, Jump Run along, Devlin Run along, it's a Non- Stop ride from One arena to another for The Raine master. Of course the camera settles on Devlin as he packs for his travel, So he can get ready to train, catch a plane say tip-top and have a life as well.
It's a difficult thing, balancing all that stuff and Kate is idly swaying up behind him as she wraps arms about him, she's dressed in a button up shirt and ....not much else thankfully anything really juicy is covered by the shirt as the purple haired princess leans against him and speaks softly.
"Where to next?"
" Oklahoma"
Devlin smiles down at her and kisses her forehead she idly pokes at the shirt with a smirk.
"Going against three other guys, two of them I've faced before, and one guy who's a complete Unknown to me..Basically, they're ramping the odds up for me...Same old."
The woman at his side poked him and he jumps a little whilst she gently chuckles.
"You Have a Plan?"
Devlin had to chuckle at that as he glances to the camera with a smile.
"Classic Indy Ploy"
The woman shakes her head and ruffles Devlin's hair before she pushes of from him and moves away as Devlin looks mostly confused and his arms open wide as he smiles with a soft.
"What?!"
We actually Fade out on Devlin expressing a little disappointment.
"What?!"
Fade back in to The sight of Devlin's Luggage being passed over to security as he starts wandering, his outfit for today is a rather simple ensemble, a shirt hangs open over a t-shirt with the rather witty slogan “The Devlin made me do it” and his cargo pants hang over his leg running down to boots as he talks towards the camera after stopping a moment to kiss Kate good -bye, why they're separated who knows? Maybe it was booking? Maybe she wants to leave him to work, either way she's in and out of shot before you can really recognize she was ever there in the first place, disappearing amongst the faces that watch this camera exchange with a sense of impassive boredom.
”Third week means third challenge and another multi-person brawl, That's right IWF and Yours truly is slowly having the odds stacked more and more against him, which is just fine by him really, he likes it that way. First we had the Battle Royale, which whilst still a valid match you could argue is more about Luck than Skill,..Fine I won that IWF High Impact Number one Contender, Achievement get!”
Devlin seems to pause as if -actually- waiting for the Achievement Unlocked graphic to appear below him and wrinkles his nose as he sighs and satisfies himself with just copying the noise before moving along and speaking again into the camera, guiding himself among the people quite happily.
“After that came Ethan Drake, And I hate to say I told you so Buddy, But your David Copperfield Shenanigans didn't help you Come Battle Grounds. Let me let you in on a little secret..Devlin Raine is sacred of no man or beast, we're all human, We all have our limits and -anyone- can be taken down with enough smarts and willpower, Simple as man No Destiny, no mystic forces at work just plain old Fortitude and the ability to back yourself up when the chips are down..Seriously if I thought It'd get me anywhere I'd start Baiting Stygian again, but for -once- I'm gonna stop flogging that horse, and Geez Rem, 10 Million?! What is this? The 'Running Man' now?! Regardless of if people like him or not you have =-got- to admire Stygian's Gusto..really...Buuut that doesn't mean if I get a chance to come out swinging against the ol' Black Dragon Himself, That I won't..why? Because that's the kind of guy I am....Where was I ?..Right Drake, Fatal Four way..Gotcha.”
Devlin gives a little smile and chuckles.
“Despite the Show we put on Last Time Drake, I'm not going to take my victory for granted ,sure I can feel pretty confidant in myself after well -that- but really? I have tow other guys to worry about apart form yourself and I Can probably figure you'll be looking for revenge along with Mr Enigma, who wasn't really all that involved with myself again though, I can see revenge brewing..So what? I have to fight off two guys who'll most likely beat me down before going to china town.. OK.. I can deal with that ..But you see what troubles me is the X factor, The unknown and that is Gordon Fury.”
The young star moves towards a seat and leans on his own knees as he waits for his flight's announcement brows furrowing as he considered the new challenger then clicks his fingers a bit.
“Actually, I'll go back Enigma because I don't rally feel like I'm giving the guy a fair shot, and we met -once- In the Battle Royale and really I don't t know what your Deal is Enigma, Puzzles riddles games or even those Sudoku things You bring your sweet self to hat ring..and like I told Drake, bring your 'A' Game anything else just will not do because If -I- don't get you one of the other guys will. ”
He nodded to himself satisfied so far with what he's said now focusing his entire attention on his unknown opponent or rather the last of them.
“So, Gordon Fury that leaves me with you and you have the advantage of being able to scout me, of course you'll also have the other guys to look out for, but the wise man know where the weakest point in his defense lies and that's with you Gordon, so I look forwards to meeting you, face to face and hearing your words, from what I gather you're also a bit of a high flying technician like myself so really this could go a -long – way ..We both have points to prove..I gotta keep my momentum and show the brass I can carry through whatever it is they throw at me and you and your opponents are looking to get the foot on the ladder -and- kick a little dirt in my face on the side line, it's business I get that, nothing personal, well not from me anyway.”
He extends his arms either side of him exposing that slogan once more as he gives a wry smile.
“But let's make no bones about this Fury, I'm going out there to win, To show those people just why it is Devlin Raine is a name they should support, and well You're looking to do the same for your name, to take me down a peg, same with Drake, same with Enigma I don't have to be the one pinned to lose but a L in that column? It's still an L, So I will be doing my -damnedest- to win that ,match, and hopefully Fury? You will too..That way when people look back on that Battle grounds they'll say ' Man that was an -awesome- thing!' Of course things could have it that The same applies for Drake or Enigma, But like I said earlier I know the least about you..so I expect the most of ya.. No offense..It's just the sorta guy I am..Bring your 'A' Fury,Enigma, Drake.. I'll see ya'll on the Battle Grounds”
A pause as the camera starts to fade out.

| The scene opens on a laptop screen where the match card for the upcoming Battle Ground is posted. Before your very eyes one of the matches that was triple threat becomes a fatal four way, as a forth name appears under the match. The camera zooms out to show a man sitting at a desk the laptop is sitting on. He is casually dressed, wearing a plain black t-shirt, jeans, white sneakers and a silver chain around his neck.
Gordon Fury: Surprise!
Gordon stands up out of the chair. He seems to be in a hotel room, the dodgy furniture and tacky painting hanging above the bed located directly behind him pretty much giving it away.
Gordon Fury: People of IWF, I know at this point you have no idea who I am, so I suppose first thing is first. I am Gordon Fury, and I am the newest member of the IWF roster. Of course for my first match you would expect something simple, just to learn the ropes and warm your way in right? Wrong! I am a last minute addition into a fatal fucking four way match.
...And I wouldn't have it any other way. You see I didn't come to IWF for easy matches, I came here for challenges. To really push myself in that ring. I always go out there and give it my all, but I want opponents and matches that make me NEED to give it my all. However my excitement turned to disappointment when I did my research.
Gordon looks back at the laptop screen and shakes his head. He quickly focuses back on the task at hand.
Gordon Fury: But more on that later. While any competitor you step in the ring with is a threat, I am going to start with the biggest threat in my mind, and that is Devlin Raine. Devlin you are the current #1 contender to the IWF High Impact title, and rightly deserved. You had one hell of a showing at Fallout and your status reflects that. Not only that, but you have had your fair share of wins outside that match as well. That said Devlin, DO NOT make the mistake of thinking I am like the rest of your opponents. I am not like Enigma, not like Drake, not like anyone. If you come into this match same way you did against them then you have nearly guaranteed yourself a defeat. This week you better step it up Devlin, because I didn't come into this company to lose.
Gordon walks towards the door located on his left hand side and walks through it, opening onto a first floor balcony, the light breeze makes slight waves through his hair and blows his chain, the setting sun shining off of his chain. He leans forward onto the balcony railing before continuing
Gordon Fury: You are right that we both have something to prove, but it is not quite how you described it. I understand why you want to prove yourself to the brass, so that you meet their expectations and prove to them you are ready, but Devlin, I can't respect that. The only person I ever have to prove anything to is myself. As long as I know I did everything I could in that ring, win or lose, then I have proven myself. It is not on me to dance for the brass, to jump through their hoops and twist myself to meet their expectations. Fuck that. I go out to the ring and fight the way I want, talk the way I want, and win the way I want. If they choose to not take notice, fine by me. I will just keep beating people down and winning matches until I FORCE them to take notice. You may not mean to be a puppet, but you are. Devlin you seem to be confident enough but you yourself said you are under pressure to prove yourself, and one tends to wonder whether that pressure is going to get to you when you need to keep it at bay the most. The more you have Devlin, the more you have to lose. People have started to know your name, you are a contender to a championship. Losing against a rookie, well that probably wouldn't look good huh? Plus add that to the fact you know absolutely nothing about me, whereas I have plenty of study material on you. You know what they say Devlin, knowledge is half the battle, and you don't know shit when it comes to me. But you will learn, as everyone will learn.
You see Devlin, I am not afraid to hurt someone if it means picking up the win. I will break limbs, I will crush throats, I will do WHATEVER it takes. THAT is what I am prepared to do Devlin. Are you? You seem like a good guy, but you don't show that fire, that passion that when you hit a wall, it gives you the power to push through it. I can guarantee you are not used to this fire from yourself, and you aren't used to it from your opponents. Don't worry though Devlin, I will be bringing it in abundance come Battle Grounds.
Gordon takes a deep breath before continuing.
Gordon Fury: Surprisingly enough that was the pleasant part. Now we come to the disappointment, starting with Mr. Enigma. Mr Enigma you are the definition of no credibility. I mean you start things terribly by shirking your duty to post a promo, followed by getting decimated in the ring. Then at Fallout, you actually have a chance to show people that you mean business and you screwed that up too. Not only was your promo boring and weird, but it had no aim. From the way you carry yourself and the things you TRY to say, I assume you attempt to make people fear you, but from what I saw the only feeling I had for you was pity. Pity that IWF has someone like you clogging up its roster. You see Enigma, I hate lazy people, and I hate stupid people. You seem to come under both categories, so it makes things soooo much easier for me mentally. See people like Devlin I don't like hurting, but I recognise that it is necessary. You? I get pure delight in beating the everloving shit out of pieces of trash like you, fakes who try to be scary because they lack the ability to be themselves. Don't get me wrong Enigma, just because I think you are a stain on this fed doesn't mean I am going to ignore you. You still have a tiny, almost non-existent spark of talent in that ring, and it is always the fake and desperate ones that try to capitalise on work other people do, so I will be keeping a close watch on you during our match, and if you even try to pick up my scraps I won't even hesitate to bury you into the ground. And unlike you Enigma, I don't make empty threats. I make promises, and I always keep my promises.
Gordon stands up straight and shakes himself out, takes another deep breath and begins speaking. This time he starts quite slow and methodical.
Gordon Fury: What everyone is going to learn about me very quickly is that I don't hold back. I am not afraid to tell it how it is, and that is exactly what I am going to do regarding the biggest piece of shit in this match: Ethan Drake. How dare you Ethan, how fucking dare you. You come into this company representing Australia, the place that we call home, and you pull this shit? I mean at least Enigma properly promoted a match, as opposed to your utter abortion of a “promo” that was about 30 seconds long. Besides that no one has heard anything from you, except of course to get utterly stomped into the ground in your matches. I mean, you tapped out by getting suffocated by a fat guy's tit... How much more do I have to say? That speaks volumes all by itself. You are an utter disgrace to Australia, to IWF, and to yourself. By all means Ethan I hope you prove me wrong. I hope you cut a fantastic promo and bury me, but if the past is anything to go by, then I doubt it.
Come Battle Grounds all of you will be facing a man that is utterly driven and determined to win, and willing to do whatever it takes to do so. If any of you don't do the same, then you may as well just lie down in the middle of the ring and give up, because I guarantee anything less won't cut it. It is time for you all to face the fury...
Gordon pauses before uttering one final word.
Gordon Fury: ...Mate.
The camera fades to black. | |
