Homecoming Main Event Injury Update Empty
PostSubject: Homecoming Main Event Injury Update   Homecoming Main Event Injury Update I_icon_minitimeThu May 02, 2013 4:41 pm

IWF News Source has learned that after the main event of Homecoming, Molly Reid was rushed into surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. According to sources, Molly Reid suffered a ruptured spleen and a punctured lung due to broken ribs, as well as other undisclosed internal injuries. Sources tell us that the surgery was successful and that Molly Reid is currently recovering in the hospital and is scheduled to be transferred to the LAC+USC Medical Center sometime this weekend.

While no official statement has been made, word is that the injuries suffered by Molly Reid in her championship match with Ethan Cage were severe enough that she is considering retirement. While this is not confirmed, this would be a serious blow to IWF, as she has only been IWF World Heavyweight Champion for four days. At the very least, we spoke to a doctor who had experience with the injuries that Molly Reid suffered, and he said that a typical patient would have a recovery time of four to six months at the very minimum. This doctor believes that Molly Reid, judging by her intense physical fitness level, would be able to recover and wrestle again in the lower end of that timeframe, but nothing is certain.

With that evidence, it’s hard to believe that Molly Reid’s recovery time will be any less than four months. No official statement from IWF, Molly Reid, or General Manager Jessica Matthews has been made yet regarding the future of the IWF Championship. If Molly Reid is indeed out for an extended amount of time, it is likely that she would be stripped of her IWF Championship. We’ll keep everyone updated as we get information and hopefully we can speak to Jessica Matthews tonight about the future of Molly Reid and the IWF Championship.

In other medical news, Ethan Cage suffered no major injuries in the match, but as a result from minor injuries suffered, he will not have a match on the upcoming Battlegrounds. However, it is likely that he will still appear on the show in some capacity.

In an update to the earlier story IWF News Source has received a statement from Jessica Matthews regarding Molly Reid and the future of the IWF Championship.

Jessica Matthews
Yes, Molly Reid is currently in the hospital recovering from serious injuries suffered in her match with Ethan Cage. We expect her to be fine and eventually make a full recovery, and our thoughts are with her. We’ve spoken to doctors there, and we’ve spoken to Molly herself. While Molly remains non-committal on any sort of early retirement, we have learned that she will in fact, be out of action for at least four months. Unfortunately we cannot allow a champion to still hold their belt while injured for such a long period of time. We at IWF have decided that after the surprisingly competitive match and victory for Molly Reid at Homecoming, that we will allow her to hold the belt until next Monday night, where we will officially strip her of the title. On the show, we will announce the plans for the IWF Championship in the near future. So tune in.

IWF News Source was unable to get any statement from Molly herself, however she did tweet out that she would be addressing the IWF fans at Battlegrounds regarding her future in the company. While nobody is quite sure what to expect, we know for sure that this announcement will be regarding her future in the company.
