....It's been a minute now where were we, Oh yeah that's right.....

?????: Now Vinnie, what would Casey think, you all cozying up like that.....

I looked at Jess and then spun around.....

....Standing in the doorway was Chris Matthews holding a bag of fozen peas against his swollen skull, looking a lil rough around the edges.

Chris: In all honesty, you may be better for her than our mutual friend, but I am not one to make realationship calls, now am I??

....I stood up from the couch and took a couple quick, purposeful strides across the room.....

VVR: Let's get one thing straight slim, you and Jess called me here and there was nothing goin' on there but two friends chattin' it up. Who is better for who is immaterial at this point. Jess needs a friend and I am willing to hear her out because I know Casey better than any one. Corey is teetering on the brink of madness and I am about the only one that can keep him on the right edge of that razor thin line pal. Get it, Got It....

Jess: Please you two, I can't take any more craziness, any more instability....Vinnie wasn't anything but a Southern Gentleman checking on my hand, which I split open on your ugly vase Chris.

....My phone rang in my pocket and Jess looked at me wide eyed.....

Jess: It's him isn't it Vinnie?? He knows you are here with me....How does he know??

VVR: I don't know Jess, but yes it is him.... I gotta answer it.....

....I flipped open the phone expecting to hear Casey on the other end, it was him all right but something was just a little bit off. His speech was slow and measured and carried a unmistable weight to it.....

CC: The wench is there with you.....

VVR: The wench....I dropped that lil whore we were running with off last night...

CC: Cut the jokes Van Rose, my WHORE is there with you.....Don't bother covering up I know she is there. Now listen carefully and make sure she cannot hear us from here on out.....

....Jess looked at me pleading for anything .... I put up my hand shaking my head and walked into the next room.....

VVR: All right man, what is it.....

CC: The next phase of my plan needs to be set in motion....And for that to happen unfortunately I need you.....

VVR: Well hey you know any time you need my help I am there with bells on....

CC: Yes. yes ever the faithful iron fist.....Listen well VVR, I need you to take the whore to the address I gave you a few days back before you arrive at From The Ashes. She is to remain there until I tell her other wise. After we regain what is rightfully ours we will head out for our post match celebration and meet up with her. Your one job is to make sure she arrives at each point exactly as I ask. If she is not where she is supposed to be at the exact times I specify this plan will be fro nothing....Do you understand??

VVR: Gotcha boss man, anything else.....

CC: You have everything in place there correct??

VVR: Yep, and the final preperations will be done soon after....

CC: Good enough, now get going.....

....I hung up with CC staring at the phone for a minute. Over the past few days CC had that strange tone every time he called and he always had specific instructions. I got him and Jess a room at this dive motel he gave me the address for and put it in the name he gave me, I stock piled everything he asked for and now he was telling me to take Jess there and then I was to finish things up after From the Ashes at our celebratory shindig. He was so certain we were both walking out of the biggest PPV of the Year with our straps back and hell, who was I to argue.....I walked back in the room and Jess ran to me .....

Jess: What did he say??

VVR: He said I have to take you to a secret place and he will tell you everything. You gotta stay there til we come get you ok??

....I looked at her and deep down I worried fro her for the first time.....I had no clue what would go down from here, but I had to make sure she was safe.....

VVR: Honestly darlin', I think this is gonna be the safest place for ya....Now get your stuff we gotta go.....

....Chris stepped in my way trying to keep us where we were.....

VVR: Step outta the way Matthews, I don't think you have enough frozen vegtables to heal up what I am gonna do to ya if ya don't.....

....I grabbed Jess' arm and lead her out pushing Chris to the side...We climbed on my bike and headed to the address Casey had given me a few days before. I walked uneasily to the office where a key was waiting. Jess and I walked to the room and I let her in....

VVR: Now you hang out here and watch the show darlin'....Once you see that CC and I have won you go to the address I wrote down on the pad over there. I know it sounds fishy as hell right now but you will understand eventually I promise....

...Jess wiped tears from her eyes and nodded her head and hugged me one last time before I headed out the door....I climbed on my bike and sped off toward the arena with a heavy heart and a guilty conscience.....

SHORTLY AFTER FROM THE ASHES.....

....Casey and I had put away quite a few drinks and I was gettin' a lil fuzzy around the edges. I kept a sharp eye on my good friend though and he seemed antsy, preoccupied and not all together there. I looked down at my watch when he wasn't looking and noticed it was right about that time. I slid toward the men's room letting Casey know I had to break the seal, to which I was greeted with a lovely light weight comment. I made my way out of ear shot and dialed the number he had given me earlier.....A woman's voice answered.....

VVR: Don't say anything just get your ass down here like we talked about.....I will meet you near the dance floor if I can.....

....I hung up the phone and snaked my way back through the crowd.....
