Christie explained to Dan that it was just all part of the job. That it didn't mean anything when Bryan kissed her in the ring. Dan wasn't having any of it. He started distancing himself from Sapphire a little. In the back of his mind he knew Sapphire was telling the truth but it was killing him that Bryan was messing with his life. He was frusturated that there was really nothing he could do. He wasn't breaking any laws, or any SWF regulations so he couldn't be punished. Dan just had to take it and that was killing him. But this was the straw that broke the camel's back. He could cope with the fact that Bryan was an ass to him and all of his friends and that Bryan was the one stealing his masks but this? Stealing his girlfriend away from him? He had had enough. He went up to the SWF Manager and asked to be booked against Bryan. At first the manager was reluctant. Dan was still a fairly new midcarder so bumping him up to the main event spots would be a little odd. Besides he did not want to book a match that was fueled by off screen hatred. Dan begged him for it but the SWF Manager told him the only way it would happen is if Dan lost intentionally. Dan didn't want that.
The next few weeks were a nightmare. He hated going to work and seeing Bryan's stupid smirk whenever they passed by each other. He hated seeing him with Christie. And he hated the way everytime he looked at her, he saw the image of Bryan kissing her in his mind. The jealousy was eating him alive. Apparently some of his friends noticed because Ryoko and a few others approached him about it. They all figured it was because of the inappropriate kiss Bryan gave Christie. They told Dan to let it go. They told him that he had a good thing with Christie and he shouldn't let that one thing ruin it. Dan was stubborn though and kept thinking of ways to get back at Bryan. He didn't want to sink down to his level. He wanted to teach him a lesson and the only way he could do that without looking like a low-life was to beat him in a match. Literally beat him down. But SWF wasn't willing to risk something like that. The only way for it to happen would be to get Bryan to want it to.
Dan knew that Bryan wouldn't agree to such a match. He had nothing to prove and nothing to gain. Dan would like an idiot if he asked him. He imagined that Bryan would just sit there and laugh his ass off. Dan had a better idea. He would get his attention by getting on his nerves. Dan started by saying a few quips about him while walking in the back. They weren't the best jokes. He had to keep them simple so the Japanese wrestlers could understand but he could tell it was getting to Bryan. He would mutter to himself while the lot laughed at him as he passed by. Next Dan tried messing with his stuff. He wouldn't steal anything from him but just misplace a few things. He would watch as Bryan would fumble around thinking he misplaced something. He would literally swear that he just had something as he dug through his gym bag. After a few minutes he would find it eventually but it wasn't where he had left it. He would then find Dan standing there all smug and proud of himself. Bryan started to become very annoyed. But Dan saved the best for last. He started to spend more time with Christie and thus whenever it was time for her to go out to the ring with Bryan, Dan gave her a long and passionate kiss while Bryan watched. They would say they loved each other. Dan made her promise that she would never let Bryan kiss her that way again.

Chris This is great.
Rick What?
Chris I just got off the phone with Frank.
Rick And?
Chris Guess who is replacing him?
Rick Just tell me.
Chris His son Robbie.
Rick sighed and thought for a while. He leaned back and put his leg over the other and touched his tie.
Chris He can get the job done. I'm sure of it.
Rick And what if he can't? I barely know the damn kid.
Chris I think we saw him a while back during that christmas party.
Rick Yeah that was years ago. He was little squirt back then. Who knows how he is now.
Chris Frank says he has been doing great. That he is ready to take on Dan.
Rick Right. Of course he would. It's his own son.
Chris It's more than that. Frank sounded really confident. And you know we can trust Frank.
Rick Can we? Really?
Chris He's loyal to us. We gave him this opportunity. He wouldn't squander it.
Rick We gave him SEVERAL opportunities. I know he won't.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door.
Rick spun his head. Chris got up and wondered who it could be.
Chris Come in.
Rick turned back to Chris.
Rick It might be the kid.
The door opened. It wasn't Robbie. It wasn't Frank.
Chris ...What are you doing here?
Rick spun around towards the door.
Dan I just thought I'd say hello to my two favorite people in the world.
Dan smiled and a look of anger came on the face of Rick.
Rick What the fuck do you want now? Assurance that you will win your match at Fallout?
Dan Oh. Rick. I wasn't aware that you made such deals. Tell me do you bribe people too? Because I'm a little broke and I am in need of some cash.
Rick Shut up! Haven't you caused enough trouble?
Dan Not enough trouble apparently. You two aren't in the mental asylum yet.
Chris Dan, what do you want? Mr. Christian and I are in a very important meeting.
Dan A very important meeting? Concerning what? My future? Tell me how does it look? Great?
Rick It looks bleak. And every second you stand in this office it gets even bleaker.
Dan That's assuring. I always wanted a darker and more serious gimmick.
Chris Dan, are you finished?
Dan Well actually I did have a reason to come in here besides cause more white hairs to grow on you Mr. Christian. I came here to actually apologize to both of you.
Rick and Chris looked at each other confused.
Dan I came here because I wanted to apologize for my recent actions. Yes including what I just did a few minutes ago. I want to apologize to Chuck, Brandon, Frank, and anyone else from NLWF who felt disrespected. I am sure they are all great competitors and good people. Just doing the best they can for IWF. I'd also like to apologize to the IWF staff, especially the writers. I am sure they spent countless days and nights collaborating and planning Fallout. I'm sure they had to miss their kid's birthdays and special nights with their beloved ones because they had to come up with Chuck and Brandon's current storyline at the moment. It's a really good storyline. It really is! I can't wait to see if Anna or Ashley gives in first. Of course I'd rather have those two bitches be sucking my dick but who wouldn't?
Rick and Chris start to become impatient?
Dan Look, I want to apologize to both of you the most because I know what I put you guys through. I mean several months of dealing with me Chris. That must have been a nightmare. And Rick. The humiliation and the torment you had to go through this past week while trying to plan a Pay Per View. That must have been tough on you. I apologize.
Dan paused.
Dan And I want to apologize in advance for something. I want to apologize for ruining your plans at Fallout. I want to apologize for winning the match. And becoming number one contender. Might as well apologize for winning the IWF Title match too and becoming IWF Champion for the second time.
Rick YOU SON OF A BITCH!
Dan held out both his hands and gave them the finger.
Dan Later, haters!

It finally happened. But it took a backstage fight for it to happen. One day when Dan was walking in the back he passed by Bryan. They both stopped. Bryan said something insulting. Dan said likewise and the two started brawling. Luckily other guys were there to break it up but the SWF Manager saw what happened and he agreed to let them have the match, but if he ever saw that kind of trouble again they would both be cut.
It was the day of the match and Dan was preparing in the locker room when the SWF Manager walked in. He said if Dan lost he had to unmask. Dan was okay with that. Christie went into this locker room and hugged him. She tried to talk him out of it but he didn't want to hear it. Bryan had to be shut up once and for all.
As he walked down the ramp he pranced around for the adoring fans. He had become pretty well known and liked. He rolled into the ring and gave the fans what they wanted as he acknowledged them with taunts. Suddenly a huge pop was heard as the King of SWF entered with Sapphire in hand. Dan looked into Christie's eyes as she went down that ramp. She was worried. Then he looked into Bryan's. He was focused as ever. When Bryan got into the ring he wasted no time. He went right at it with Dan straight away disregarding any formal taunts whatsoever. They punched each other left and right. Dan kicked him in the gut. As Bryan doubled over Dan kicked him again in the leg. Bryan didn't like that. They started a legitimate brawl in the ring. Amazingly security didn't interfere. They just let it go on and the crowd was shocked. Dan punched Bryan and made his nose bleed. They tussled around some more until they were exhausted. Bryan took a swing and Dan remembered his judo training and took him down. Dan locked him into the armbar and pulled on it. He heard Bryan yell out as Dan heard a pop. Dan had broken Bryan's arm. Bryan screamed out and tapped. The ref ringed for the bell but didn't realize the severity of the situation until Bryan cried out in pain. His arm had snapped from the pressure. and the ref called out for a stretcher. Dan stood there as the EMT's put him on the stretcher and carried him out. The crowd became silent as they wheeled him up the ramp. The only noticeable sound was Bryan screaming in pain. Crying out for his arm. Dan noticed that Christie was there following them. She looked back at Dan. She was crying. Her face full of tears. Dan got out of the ring and ran up trying to follow them.
Everyone in the back had seen what happened. They stood there along the wall looking on as Bryan was carried out of the building. Dan caught up to them and tried to get a hold of Christie. She cried out and pushed him away.
Christie No Dan. How could you do this?
Tears rolled down her eyes. Dan stood there dumbfounded.
Christie Just stay away from me okay?
Dan But Christie...
Dan tried to hold her. She pushed him away.
Christie STAY AWAY FROM ME!
Dan watched as they exited the building. Bryan's screams were heard for another ten minutes as the was loaded into the ambulance.

Frank really? Your son? You got your son involved in this? You do know what happens when people bring their children into this game right? Either Robbie ends up like Nick Ridicule and tries to kill you off or he ends up like Ashley Matthews and you know... becomes a whore. But let me speak to Robbie himself since I am wrestling him and not you. But before I do. How does it feel to have Hart Jr. wrestle for you? I mean if he actually destroys me you got bigger things to worry about. Whats to stop him from doing the same to his old man? What? Cause your his father? Don't make me laugh. It wouldn't be the first time someone's offspring turned on them.
✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯✯
Now on to you Robbie. Let's not have your father here to babysit you. I know he'll probably accompany you to the ring but I think it's good for you to talk to me one on one. You know, so he's not there to defend you.
You are probably angry. Angry that I beat your father so badly. Maybe you hate me for what I said to your father and all the things I said about him. I understand that. You have to defend your father and the family name. So if you did something to hurt me I can understand that. If you want to beat me to a pulp I understand that. I could imagine that you dream about the day you would destroy me. I totally get that. You know what I understand? Is why your father would let you do that.
I know that fathers want their sons to be tough and strong. Well most do anyways, and Frank seems to be one of those guys. But even fewer are fathers who would just throw their sons into the fire. Think about it. If your father wanted you to work a tough job, or live on your own I would understand that. That would teach you life skills. By the time your an adult he'd probably expect you to be successful and be good at what you do. But you know what most father's wouldn't do? Put their sons in harms way. See your father acknowledges that I am a dangerous threat. And he know first hand. I beat him to a pulp last time. I made him quit. So he knows going into a match with me will leave anyone scarred. But yet he tells you to go into the ring with me. He tells you to go into the fire.
Now you probably said yes. That I understand. I beat your father badly and you hate me for it. A young man like you must be fuming with adrenaline right now. But it's a father's job to prevent their sons from making stupid decisions. Yet he's rooting for you. That's like if a bank was being robbed with four armed and dangerous criminals and your dad is there pushing you in there with no formal training and no one to back you up. Just telling you "You can do it Robbie! You can do it!!! GO SAVE ALL THOSE PEOPLE!!" While you don't even have a gun.
Speaking of which I don't know why both of you are fascinated with shooting me. I mean do you guys hate me that much? Really? So much that not only is it enough just to shoot me you gotta blow my brains out with a sniper rifle? Really? You know your father is kind of a bad influence now that I am thinking about it.
But I am not just talking about what he says or what he does that is a bad influence. I mean you and your father talk about how I'll end up forgotten and unwanted. As if you had a crystal ball that held my future. But unlike me you do have a crystal ball Robbie. Just look at your father. Sure he is a multiple time world champ but then what? I wouldn't be surprised if he is an alcoholic because of all the disappointment in his life. You know just a few weeks ago he was in a personal crisis. But you should know that. Was that hard for you Robbie? Growing up with Frank as your father? Always with someone else. Relationship after relationship failing. You going from house to house never really feeling welcomed.
But enough about that. My point is that you will end up just like him. Sure you have his genes. Great athlete. Probably will do great in this business. Most likely will. But your personal life will be in shambles. Just like your father's. Just like what someone having a heart attack looks like on an electrocardiography graph. Your life will go up and then WAY down. Then up again and then way down. Like your father you can't maintain a healthy and normal life. You'll always be struggling with yourself. One moment your the champion the next your in a trashbin near walmart trying to salvage anything you can sell for a few cents.
That's what your father always had a problem with. Consistency. One minute he's riding high the next he is in the gutter. He knows that and that is why he can't take that chance. That's why he picked you. But what he failed to remember was that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He doesn't realize that you are just like him. And that you will end up just like him. A washed up old man trying to scrape every last bit of fame and money he has left.
I know your eager to fight me. Not wrestle me. But fight me. I know what your going to try and do. You are going to try and kill me in that ring. Make me get hurt. Make me scream in pain. Make me beg for my life. But your wrong. I'm not your father. I fight back. I'm not going to sit there and take whatever you dish out on me. I'm not that kind of person. I didn't piggyback off of anyone's fame like you did. I know what it takes to be a champion. Do you? You have a lot of things to learn kid. You don't just talk big game just cause your father was a champion. You have to earn your own way. Carve out your own path. And what better way then to face me at Madison Square Garden. I mean we are overshadowed by that piece of shit Co-Mainevent. But that doesn't matter. I'll still put on a great show and beat the crap out of you and go on to be number one contender and win the IWF Title.
Cut back to reality.
What really is more is that you win the match and I get pushed back to the midcard. Why? Because there is no way Rick will ever let me become IWF champion again. In fact any kind of champion.
Rick is probably going to push you to the moon and beyond. Then eventually you will become champion. Your dad Frank will come in and hug you and be all proud of you. You'll garner millions of fans worldwide. Yadda yadda yadda. You'll just be another one of their poster boys sailing on mediocrity. Me? I'll slave away probably putting on the best matches of IWF while being unrecognized for it. They will probably even buffer my stats on the IWF video games. You'll be in the high nineties while they'll put me in the mid eighties and call that a favor. My only reconciliation? A few wrestling geeks say I am the most underrated superstar of their generation and the nerds tell me I am their personal favorite and use me as their picture base for their pathetic little wrestling fantasy roleplaying game. Fucking creepy as hell.
It's not a bad life. I was there once. Just taking orders. But then something happened. I no longer wanted to be someone's bitch.
But you know what. Just you taking this job has already made your daddy proud. You are doing IWF good. Another loyal dog for their business.
You know what I guess your right. You'll have a great career. And probably be in the Hall of Fame someday. While my last years on Earth will consist of me wandering streets going on unrecognized and barely remembered. I'll probably die alone in some gutter won't I?
Yeah. You. IWF's new bitch. Me forgotten. I wouldn't have it any other way. |
