[offcamera]The scene opens up inside the
“Confidence Gym” in Los Angeles California. Both James Shark and a female Maxim reporter are sitting down on the edge of one of the rings in the center of the gym. The reporter has her head rested on Shark’s left shoulder with a smile on her face for a photograph. Once the picture is taken, she turns her head and thanks him.
He nods his head at her and the two of them begin to have some small talk before everything is setup and the interview is ready to go.
[oncamera]Reporter: Hey guys, I’m here in one of the most famous training facilities in the world for all combat sports, none other than the Confidence Gym owned by two of the greatest former world champions in the sport, Brooklyn Carter and James Shark, also known as Sharklyn. Right now I’m standing by with James Shark himself.
The camera panned over to Shark who winked at the camera.
Reporter: James, it’s been over a week now since you told the world that you’re done with the sport of wrestling via Twitter, a lot of people have been questioning that because it’s something that you have said multiple times in the past only to go back on your word and return to the ring. Let’s face it, when it comes to talking trash, most of the time, you can definitely back it up, when it comes to saying you’re done with this sport? Not so much.
James Shark: Yo you’re a cute girl so let’s keep it real. What is there left for me to do? Who else does a nigga gotta face? I’m done with this sport cause this sport is done with me. I beat the game, I been on top and in the end, win, lose, draw, it don’t matter cause I still got the crown.
The reporter frowned her face for a bit before responding.
Reporter: Well there’s the PDW Platinum Championship, there’s a great match with Jason Gabriel now that he’s back… there’s also the possibility of a rematch with Brandon Macdonald, a match with Brandon Banks in PDW would be huge… Ethan Cage has said that he’s wanted to face you, there’s a ton of matches still left in the sport for you.
As the female reporter listed her opinions of possible match-ups and opportunities, James just had a smirk on his face as he shook his head. She noticed it.
Reporter: You’re shaking your head disagreeing with me but a lot of the fans and the superstars are giving you a lot of criticism for this decision. You’ve done a lot for the IWF and there are still some great matches for you here but in the overall sport of wrestling, there are still a lot of great promotions out there with big names and prizes.
James Shark: Hey straight up? I don’t give a fuck. You think I don’t know what they sayin about me?
“James Shark is a coward” , “James Shark is a sore loser” , “James Shark is a quitter” , “James Shark doesn’t have it anymore”. I hear it, I’m just not listening. These fans are always going to talk shit about me. I’m their number one enemy. How many times I tell the world that I don’t fight for them? How many times I tell the world that I fight for the money? They hate me and I hate them too, the feeling is mutual. The fan boys can kiss my natural black ass and the fan girls can choke on my big fat black dick, either way? They all can jump off a motherfucking cliff, their on me like flies on shit.
The reporter was a bit taken back by Shark’s response, he seemed a bit heated up.
Reporter: Is this how you wanted to leave the sport? With two consecutive losses? I’d imagine a man like yourself would like to leave with a win. You said that you still have the crown but that’s where all the hate and talk comes from, people question how you can say something like that after two straig-
James Shark: Are we really going to sit here and act like those two losses did some damage to my name and reputation? Is that the game we gonna play homegirl? Cause look, Brandon Macdonald? Straight up G. That dude gets my respect, we went blow for blow and banged… no homo. Inferno in PDW? You can’t always be the bad guy, I played the role of the good guy and gave him that win, he should thank me. Before that match came about I was talking about retirement. I went into that match to get paid. I didn’t train and didn’t look for the win. I came in with that mentality to take my ass whooping, get paid, and raise them middle fingers up to the fans who paid to see me.
Reporter: So that’s it? You’re done? This is how James Shark’s wrestling career has ended?
James Shark: You act like it ended in a bad way.
Reporter: In my honest opinion I just feel like…. And a lot of people may agree with me on this… I feel like your career could be looked at as a great movie with a bad ending.
Shark chuckled as he shook his head again.
James Shark: Think what you want yo, I don’t give a fuck. You can sit here and try to get under my skin-
Reporter: No I’m not trying t-
James Shark: Whatever yo, it’s cool. You can try and get under my skin, try and get me to think about how I’m leaving the game, try and convince me to come back but it ain’t happening. I feel like I accomplished all there is to accomplish. I’ve won every motherfucking championship in the IWF before anyone else, I’m undefeated in inter-promotional battles and beat practically every big name out there. When someone pointed out a guy and said
“This guy has the style to beat James Shark, to shut him up, to humble him”, I shatted all over their predictions and knocked said guy out cold. I’ve beat dudes twice, three times, four times, five times. I’ve just done it all. You can name things that I haven’t done and I can tell you right now that those things don’t matter, all the things in this sport that you must do to be considered great or greatest of all time… all the important things… the must-haves in your career resume….
James put his arms out.
James Shark: I’ve done em. I mean, take this in… I started out in the NLWF, a company that made me. I’ll admit it, NLWF made James Shark. NLWF picked me up off the streets and gave me the chance to be somebody… they created a monster, I took the chance to be somebody and expanded that opportunity with all my tools in order to become THAT NIGGA. The NLWF made me and this year, 2013, I destroyed the NLWF. Won the Undisputed title, won the Freedom title and won the NLWF Championship. I was their poster boy, their face, their everything. Then I left them with nothing. Every goal I had in this sport has been accomplished.
Now the reporter just slowly nodded her head.
Reporter: So that’s the reason why you’re done? No more goals? I’m going to read something your former trainer said the other week.
The reporter grabbed a piece of paper.
Reporter: For those of you watching that do not know Shark’s former trainer, it’s Clayton Paris. The two of them worked alongside one another for years and he is the reason why Shark evolved to a complete fighter.
She looked down at the piece of paper and began to read off of it.
Reporter: “James Shark is a very complicated person, not a lot of people understand him, he’s very tough to read. One day he says he’s done with the sport, the next few days he’s hyped up and wants to get back into that ring. I don’t think this retirement talk is coming from his losses because let’s face it, he’s lost before only to bounce back into incredible winning streaks. Will we get to see that? I don’t think so. I’d be surprised if he does come back into the ring this time only because I feel like this time the retirement is real. Back then, James Shark was just one of those up and coming names with a lot of hype looking to make it to the top, he didn’t have a lot of money and wasn’t that famous. He’s always had such a hunger and desire to chase that paper, now? He has a lot of it and he has it all. There’s no need to chase money, he’s at a position where he has so much, he doesn’t know what to do with it. Now that his name is big and he’s out there with everybody knowing him, there’s so much opportunities for him where he can have a job without risking his life or health. He can do other things and still have that attention on him. The second reason? The love isn’t there anymore. This is a guy who used to get so motivated but being in two companies killed that motivation for him. Take a look at his history, what happened when he was signed with four companies all at one time? He lasted about a month until he took a break from the sport. Take a look a few months after that when he was signed with two, SCW and ASWF. He took another break after that as well, breaks that back then, were called “retirement”. Being in multiple companies means constant training, constant media work and constant traveling with no “me” time. After his HUGE match-up with Brandon Macdonald, he had no rest day, he had no time to just sit back and enjoy the performance both him and his friend put on. Right after that night, he was on a plane and off to get ready for his match with Inferno in PDW. When stuff like that happens, it no longer becomes fun anymore and no longer seems like you’re one of those guys that have the best job in the world. You start to feel like one of those people that hate their jobs and hate their life. I feel like this time this will be a retirement and not a break because now he has a family on the way, Brooklyn Carter is pregnant with twins and now the two of them are looking to get married. It just sucks that he’s leaving the sport with these two losses because now this is where people start to question how good he is. This is where people start to question if all those wins and accomplishments he had were just luck. Regardless, he doesn’t care what people think, he’s going to do what he wants and this is something he wants. James Shark will no longer be that villain in the sport of wrestling, that guy that used Twitter to Retweet all of his opponents trash talk after a loss, that guy that yelled things at his opponents about their mothers, their girlfriends, their sisters while being inches away from their face in the ring…. People are going to miss that.” James Shark: Word…
Reporter: The money, your personal life with Brooklyn and the love lost for this sport…. Do you agree with all that? Are these more reasons why you’re retiring or?
He nodded his head.
James Shark: Paris always been a dude that knows me. He knows what he talkin bout, he got it spot on.
Reporter: Well James, you’re saying you’re done for real, and so is everyone in your camp and circle. So I’d like to thank you for everything you’ve done in this sport and wish you the best of luck in your future, whatever that may hold…
The reporter stuck her hand out to give Shark a hand shake but he took his hand and put her hand down away from him, shaking his head.
James Shark: All these interviewers been trying to set up interviews with me, I requested this one because I had something to say. James Shark is done with this sport, but James Shark ain’t say when now did he?
She raised her eyebrows curiously.
James Shark: Yall know I don’t give a fuck about the talk but yall should also know that I got too much pride to go out on a loss, let alone two. I’m done with this sport, but right now I’m talkin one more match.
Reporter: Wait what!? Who? When? Where??
James Shark: Follow ya boi @TrashTalkRoyalT on Tweeter, ima be a good lil Tweeter Whore and announce it ova there whenever I feel like it. Maybe I’ll call my desired opponent out in an hour, maybe tomorrow, maybe in a week… a month? Shit, I don’t know, just keep ya eyes and hears opened. I ain’t going away until I got my bragging rights.
