Gordon Fury [vs.] Rex Evans Empty
PostSubject: The Return Match   Gordon Fury [vs.] Rex Evans I_icon_minitimeSun May 05, 2013 5:50 pm

[Warning: Any racial slurs or views expressed in this piece are simply the created personas of the characters involved, not how I actually feel. Nothing in this piece is meant to be demeaning or discriminatory. Apologies if I offend anyone, it was not my intent.]

The Boston crowd is going absolutely insane. Here I sit, for the first time on the opposite side of the barricade, getting slaps on the back from passing fans, as I watch my boy drive his knee right into the face the High Impact Champion and drop down to regain his title.

“That’s how it’s done,” I yell to Nathan as we climb to our feet in applause, staring at Gordon Fury as he climbs the turnbuckle with his strap high above his head. Suddenly the third man in the match charges Fury with a double axe, knocking him off the buckle. “The fuck is this?”

I watch as Johnson lifts him up into an Electric Chair, releasing him and nailing him with a Lungblower. He grabs Gordon’s belt and stalks him as my boy starts to move. “Nah, this isn’t happening. Hank, come on.”

I stare at my escort, and he swallows deeply before reluctantly unlocking my handcuffs. I quickly hop the barricade and slide under the bottom rope, stalking the stalker ready to destroy him.

I don’t care if it’s your house, don’t cheap shot my friends.

I slap the mat, and he hears me. A snarl creeps into my expression as he turns around confused and I barrel across the ring, leaping at the man with my shoulder extended and ripping him in half with an Unstoppable. I snap back to my feet as he rolls violently out of the ring to the floor and the crowd erupts. I snag a microphone as security begins to descend the ramp.

“I’ll be honest, Gordon. There was an ulterior motive for me being here tonight,” Gordon takes a second to realize what has happened, looking back between Flex on the ground and myself across from him. “As it stands, I haven’t given you your return match that I promised. So next week on Battlegrounds, what say you and I blow the arena apart?”

The arena blows up again, as I hand the microphone to him. It’s a little shocking that I can get so many cheers here, in a place I’ve never been before. But then again, they’re most likely just cheering for Gordon.

“I never back down from a challenge. You’re on Rex,” we smirk at each other, and he extends his hand. Without hesitation I grab it, just as the security hits the ring. Hank and Rick hop the barricade sliding into the ring to place me back in handcuffs, as they try to explain to security to back down. Gordon climbs the turnbuckle again, raising his championship high above his head and I take this chance to ignore the security. Gust hands me the CRW World Heavyweight Championship and I hold it in my cuffed hands, climbing the buckle next to him and holding my title just as high.

Gordon looks at me nodding and I nod back, placing the title on my shoulder and clapping for the new champ.

April 28th, 2013 – TD Garden; Boston, Massachusetts

A lot has been happening lately, inside and out.

I’ve put the worst of things behind me; the prison is working as a cohesive unit for the most part; the only exception being Calvin and the Skinheads.

And out?

After I won the World Heavyweight Championship, sending Garcia to the hospital… a former thorn in my side, Wayland Jackson, came back to haunt me, bringing in my first challenger who is seemingly the True Expert Champion Doug E. Fresh.

What’s more, is that Veritas is still running rampant and they beat Sally and I two weeks ago on Face Off.

Right now, I’m waiting for Talon’s helicopter to pick us up and take us right over to the Under Armour Arena in New York, where I’m set to take on a fresh face in Masset. No doubt, Wayland and his client will be there, no doubt Veritas will be there. No doubt it’s going to be a long night.

But that’s just one singles match with a new guy. Not going to say I don’t care about it, because I do. It’s just not at the forefront of my thoughts.

No, that belongs to the Insurgency Wrestling Federation High Impact Champion Gordon Fury, an amazing athlete that I’ve had the pleasure of working with twice. Once on equal ground, once in my home, and now next week in his. The first time, I lasted longer than him. The second time, I won. The third time? I can’t make guarantees.

But I’m going to do everything I can to walk out with the same result.

And do you know why?

Because the very next morning, I get out of prison. And what better way to celebrate than with a hard fought victory over an incredible athlete?

“He’s not going to be throwing the same stuff at you. You beat him twice, it’s going to be a lot harder to do it a third time,” Kerry, my cellmate, sits on top of the buckle, offering me advice as I stretch out on the opposite side, while the last remaining member of my gang Marquis stands in a third corner stretching out as well. “I might not be a professional wrestler, but I’ve been in my fair share of return ass kickings. They’re never the same.”

I have a tendency to go a little too hard in sparring sessions, so Kerry elected to find me a new partner in Marquis. And with the Skinhead neo-Nazis lashing out at us lately, our closest allies the Redwood biker gang decided to station themselves around the ring.

“I get that. This is a huge match; any time I step into someone else’s home it’s a big deal. But I’m ready for this,” Marquis walks over, bumping my fist with a smile.

“Kick his ass, Sea Bass,” Chuck yells from his seat at ringside, Marquis smirks as we circle around the ring and then charge right in for a tie up. He starts to power me back, as I try to get a grasp of his abilities. He gets me into the corner, and I let go. He slowly starts to back up, and then hits me with a hard forearm. “Ohh, shit!”

The peanut gallery loves it, and I can only laugh as he backs up and I take a step out of the corner. We circle again, and as we charge in again I drop to a knee wrapping him up in a waistlock. Without hesitation I lift him up and slam him down face first into the mat, rolling around his body into a headlock before pulling backwards into a guillotine choke. It takes only a few seconds for him to tap out, and Redwood goes crazy jumping around the outside of the ring making noise and pounding on the apron. I help Marquis up to his feet as Chuck climbs into the ring.

“I haven’t had a chance to watch your shows yet, but that was awesome. I believe in you, man,” he gives me a hug as Kerry checks on Marquis. Then I hear slow, sarcastic applause. I let go of Chuck and we all turn toward the sound.

“That was truly amazing, Rex. You beat this shit out of that nigger faster than Spider hit the floor,” I hold out a hand to stop Marquis from attacking Calvin Cross, the leader of the neo-Nazi gang The Skinheads, as he and his boys approach the ring. “I just thought we should stop by and check on our newest Skinhead, we were just curious as to when you were going to be taking your pledge?”

“I told you, Calvin. I’m not one of you, nor will I ever be. You’re a racist son of a bitch, and I don’t agree with any of your views,” Calvin laughs, taking a couple steps forwards.

“Six days, Rexy. You WILL be a Skinhead before you leave,” the Redwood guys start to approach and the Skinheads back down.

Why is he so persistent on me joining?

What does he mean by telling me I will be one? I only have six days left; I don’t want to go through anything like I did back in March. I just want to get out of here.

May 1st, 2013 – Cell B-28; New York City Department of Corrections

Gordon is not the type of person to play mind games with me. I respect him; he respects me. We don’t need to get into each other’s heads; we will just go out there and give it our all.

This is precisely the reason that I thought I was going to be able to walk into Madison Square Garden on Sunday with a clear head. But that clearly isn’t going to happen any more.

Calvin and the Skinheads are up my ass about becoming one of them. But I am not a neo-Nazi, and I will never align myself with them. No matter what they throw at me.

I have six days. Just ride it out.

But in five… I take on Gordon Fury again.

It’s not going to be easy, that much I know. It will be the most difficult of the three. I’m in his home, he’s angry that I’ve beaten him twice, and I’ve got a lot on my mind.

But I’m going to go out there and give it my all. I’m going to throw everything I’ve got at him, The Breathtaker, Jailbreak, Unstoppable… it doesn’t matter.

I know I can beat him, and I’m going to do my best to end this match with the same results I’ve had twice before.
